The Youth Sports Assistant position within MCCS’s Semper Fit Division is a support role reporting directly to the Youth Sports Supervisor of the Athletics Department. This role is essential in assisting with the overall planning, organization, coordination, and execution of the Youth Sports Program. The program includes seasonal leagues, sports camps, clinics, and special events aimed at promoting fitness and sportsmanship among youth in the Marine Corps community.
The Youth Sports Assistant plays a crucial role by helping recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who serve as coaches and event staff. This includes ensuring all volunteers complete required background checks, remain compliant with National Youth Sports Coaches (NYSC) policies, and participate in relevant training clinics and seminars. The position also involves overseeing the administrative and logistical aspects of events, including marketing, risk management, fiscal oversight, venue preparation, and safety compliance. Maintaining safe and well-prepared playing facilities is a key responsibility of the Youth Sports Assistant, as is promoting and adhering to safety regulations throughout all activities.
Furthermore, this role includes financial responsibilities such as assisting in budget preparation, monitoring cost centers, managing purchasing processes through authorized credit cards, and controlling equipment inventories to prevent waste, fraud, or abuse. The Youth Sports Assistant serves as a liaison with other military services and local organizations to foster community partnerships and enhance program offerings.
Working conditions for this position require flexibility to work varied shifts including nights and weekends, both indoors and outdoors, to support program activities. All employees in this role must obtain and maintain certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and completion of the National Youth Sports Coaches clinic-training program. Additionally, a valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to pass comprehensive background checks relating to work with minors are mandatory.

- Minimum one year experience in youth sports program operations
- Minimum two years clerical experience including typing, filing and record keeping
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to plan and execute youth sports programs and events
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs independently and heavier loads with assistance
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain CNACI background checks
- Availability to work nights, weekends, indoors and outdoors
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within three months
- Must complete National Youth Sports Coaches clinic training
- May require Contracting Officers Representative certification
