The City of Arlington is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in directing and coordinating all recreational activities, classes, camps, and special events on a city-wide scale. This role is essential in ensuring that program offerings across various facilities—including parks, recreation centers, and schools—are effectively managed and meet community needs. The Recreation Program Coordinator will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating instructors and staff who deliver quality recreational services. This position requires not only program oversight but also direct involvement in instructing classes when necessary.
This full-time position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to contribute to the community’s health and social engagement by promoting recreational activities and ensuring high-quality program delivery. The Coordinator will oversee customer service functions related to recreational programs, including conducting surveys, focus groups, and parent meetings to gather valuable feedback for continuous improvement. The role includes developing and implementing marketing materials and collaborating with the Marketing division to promote programs through various channels such as print and electronic advertisements.
Additionally, the Recreation Program Coordinator is tasked with managing budgets related to program expenses and revenues, tracking expenditures monthly, monitoring participant retention rates, and performing quarterly budget analysis reports. The position also involves preparing operational reports like payroll, purchasing, and productivity summaries as requested by management.
Beyond the essential duties, the Coordinator will contribute to process improvement teams and customer enhancement projects, helping to implement training programs focused on customer service and safety for all staff. Proficiency in operating integrated computer systems, analyzing database information, and utilizing various office equipment is vital for success in this role. With a minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, Marketing, or a related field, coupled with at least two years of relevant experience, this role demands a well-rounded professional who is passionate about community recreation and capable of leading teams and programs toward achieving city-wide recreational goals.
