Pegasus Aviation Services, an Akima company, is a distinguished aviation contractor dedicated not only to providing premier aviation services but also to supporting its shareholder communities in Alaska. As an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC), Pegasus serves a significant role that extends far beyond its everyday federal aviation projects. The company has a proud mission to foster the survival and growth of Alaska Native cultures, particularly the 15,000 Iunat shareholders from one of the most remote and challenging environments in the United States. Founded with a vision to blend cultural heritage with modern aviation, Pegasus places high importance on both service excellence and community impact.
As an ANC, Pegasus’ unique positioning means it carries dual responsibilities - to its shareholders and to its government customers. For shareholders, the company provides meaningful employment opportunities and valuable support programs that help sustain the rich traditions of a population that has thrived above the Arctic Circle for over 10,000 years. Meanwhile, for government customers, Pegasus delivers efficient, flexible, and safe aviation services that support domestic and international passenger airlines and cargo operations. This commitment to diverse stakeholders helps Pegasus maintain its reputation as a trusted partner in the aviation industry.
Working at Pegasus means joining a team that is driven by innovation and dedicated to diversity, two of the company’s core values. Employees benefit from a supportive environment that encourages personal and professional growth, along with access to competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and excellent retirement plans. Pegasus fosters a culture where every employee’s contribution has a direct impact on enriching communities and enhancing aviation operations.
The role offered is for a Ramp Service Agent (RSA), a vital support position within the company’s operational structure. RSAs play an essential role in the safe and efficient handling of aircraft at the gate by managing aircraft marshalling, loading and unloading baggage and freight, and performing various aircraft servicing duties. These duties include servicing lavatories, water systems, cabin cleaning, aircraft de-icing, and pushback operations. Within a close supervisory framework, RSAs ensure that each stage of ground handling adheres to strict safety and security protocols. They monitor security conditions vigilantly to detect and prevent potential breaches, thereby safeguarding aircraft, crew, and passengers.
The working environment for RSAs is fast-paced, demanding the ability to respond efficiently under tight schedules and varying weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This on-site position is physically active, requiring candidates to lift weight regularly and perform duties outdoors in all types of weather. The role also requires compliance with stringent background checks and drug testing, reflecting the sensitivity and security-conscious nature of the aviation industry.
Pegasus Aviation Services offers a unique career path for individuals motivated by teamwork, safety, and operational excellence while contributing positively to the lives of Indigenous communities and supporting critical federal aviation missions.
