The role of Housekeeper/Cook in our home is a vital position that combines the art of housekeeping with the culinary skill required to prepare nourishing and satisfying family meals. As a part of our household team, you will work closely with a second housekeeper to maintain the cleanliness and orderly operation of our home, taking special care to preserve fine furnishings, artwork, antiques, and marble surfaces. Your responsibilities will also extend to managing laundry duties and wardrobe care, with weekly ironing support provided. Flexibility and teamwork are central to this role, as you will collaborate effectively with existing household staff to ensure all tasks, from specialty cleaning projects to kitchen management, are completed efficiently and to high standards. Preparation of family-style dinners five nights per week forms a major component of this role. While formal culinary training is not mandatory, a strong passion for food and the ability to follow recipes and accommodate family preferences are essential. The ideal candidate will be energetic, mature, and detail-oriented, capable of juggling multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. Additional duties include assisting with basic errands such as grocery shopping, managing household supplies, dry-cleaning pick-up, and light pet care, including dog walking and feeding. Occasionally, you may be called upon to assist with dinner parties and other special events, helping with set-up and clean-up. This is not a formal household, but high standards of professionalism, discretion, and respect are expected at all times. Our family appreciates a positive and cheerful attitude, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible with working hours, including accommodating occasional changes to routine or schedule. While not required, the ability to drive and a willingness to travel to the Hamptons during the summer are considered significant pluses, with schedules open for discussion to accommodate mutual needs. Compensation for this position ranges from $45 to $55 per hour, depending on experience, with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, and flexibility as needed.
