The role of Flight Monitor at Amazon Prime Air is a crucial position dedicated to the real-time oversight of drone flight operations. A Flight Monitor ensures that the deployment of Amazon’s advanced drone fleet adheres to strict safety and regulatory standards while maintaining operational efficiency. This role requires vigilant monitoring of all active drone flights, identifying any variances from expected flight paths or parameters, and appropriately responding to incidents to mitigate risks. The Flight Monitor collaborates closely with multiple internal teams to resolve challenges and sustain safe delivery practices. Individuals in this position also prepare comprehensive reports detailing flight activities, anomalies, and incidents, offering valuable feedback to support continuous improvement of flight operations.
This position demands a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and strong communication abilities to perform effectively in a high-stakes, dynamic environment. Compliance with FAA regulations and Amazon’s internal safety policies is mandatory. Candidates must be able to manage physical demands including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods up to 12-hour shifts, and perform repetitive motions such as pushing, pulling, squatting, and bending. Flexibility to work across various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as readiness for travel up to 25 percent of the time, is expected. The Flight Monitor’s functions also require adherence to export control regulations and may include drug and alcohol testing as defined by the FAA for safety-sensitive roles.
Amazon offers competitive compensation for this position, with base pay ranging from $62,800 to $138,700 annually depending on geographic location and candidate qualifications. - Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate
- Understanding and application of FAA regulations and aviation policy and safety protocols
