The Porter position at RWB Thrift is essential for the operational success of the store, functioning as an air-traffic controller within the backroom. The Porter anticipates the needs of the production support staff by ensuring necessary supplies are readily available and correctly positioned. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and organized production floor by prioritizing cleanliness, hazard removal, and efficient flow of merchandise and supplies. The Porter is involved in multiple facets of the store’s operations including loading and unloading deliveries, managing waste with the trash compactor, and organizing production supplies such as hangers, racks, and carts.
Porters contribute significantly to optimizing production efficiency by swiftly executing tasks with great attention to detail while fostering a positive work environment for their teammates. They handle physical tasks such as moving furniture, boxes of clothing, household items, and donated goods safely between departments and designated areas. They operate compactors to maintain cleanliness and maximize waste management efficiency.
