The Porter position at Harvard is a vital role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and general upkeep of public and operational spaces within a building. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring that the environment remains clean, safe, and inviting for tenants, employees, and visitors alike. The role requires attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing various spaces including lobbies, elevator cars, restrooms, parking garages, plazas, stairwells, building grounds, and dock areas. As a Porter, you will be expected to execute daily tasks such as cleaning stairwells, maintaining restrooms, ensuring the first impression areas like lobbies are preserved, and assisting with snow removal when necessary. The role involves responding promptly to special requests and work orders, utilizing modern communication tools such as cell phones and tablets. Safety and hygiene are paramount in this position, requiring the individual to be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors across different weather conditions.
