The Porter role at Gerber Collision & Glass is an essential part of the repair process, focused on enhancing the customer experience by maintaining the quality and cleanliness of vehicles before they are delivered back to customers. This role involves the pre-washing and detailed cleaning of vehicles, ensuring every car looks pristine and ready for the customer at pickup. Beyond vehicle care, the Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop and office environments, including tasks such as emptying trash, cleaning floors, dusting surfaces, and managing waste in the production areas. The position also includes some physical labor such as shoveling sidewalks during winter and moving damaged vehicles to sublet service locations.
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $15 to $18 per hour, depending on experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail along with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Automotive experience is preferred but not required. The job requires the ability to perform various physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent walking and standing, and some stooping or kneeling.
