The role of Porter at The Hayward Student Living is a full-time position requiring 30 to 40 hours per week, primarily day shifts including weekends, with a competitive hourly wage of $15.05. This entry-level position reports directly to the General Manager and does not have any direct reports. The Porter's main mission is to maintain the property and apartments in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. The role includes working closely with the maintenance team to ensure that the grounds, facilities, and community areas meet the highest standards of curb appeal and safety. Attention to detail and excellent customer service are crucial as the Porter interacts with residents and visitors and plays an essential role in representing the community. Day-to-day responsibilities involve various groundskeeping and cleaning tasks such as trash removal, maintenance of flowerbeds, swimming pool upkeep including chemical record maintenance, cleaning common areas such as the clubhouse and office, and ensuring exterior lighting and safety features are in good working order. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, perform tasks requiring full body motion such as bending, stooping, and climbing stairs, and endure exposure to various weather conditions. The role also requires reliable transportation due to the on-call emergency maintenance support responsibilities, which involves some overtime, extended hours, and participation in rotating on-call schedules. • Must have reliable transportation due to the emergency on-call requirement
• Position requires employee to be able to use general cleaning equipment and tools including but not limited to hand tools, paint equipment, ladders, cleaning chemicals, vacuums, blowers and hoses
• A high school education or equivalent is required (college hours preferred)
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Full range of motion with upper and lower body including standing, walking, bending, stooping, crawling and climbing stairs
• Ability to work with both hands for frequent grasping and manipulation
• Push or pull items and reach overhead
• Operation of a motor vehicle onsite, if applicable
• Exposure to all weather conditions
