The role of Plant Operations Aide is a vital position within the Facilities Department of the San Diego Community College District. This position is responsible for maintaining assigned areas such as classrooms, offices, buildings, and outside grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Working under the direction of Crew Leaders, Custodians, Supervisors, or other managers, the Plant Operations Aide contributes to creating a welcoming and hygienic environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to operate various cleaning equipment and tools. It also involves performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces and fixtures, as well as managing waste disposal and supporting event setups.
This is an open position with flexible recruitment limits and an hourly pay rate specified by the District. Employees in this role are expected to uphold health and safety regulations and use cleaning materials and chemicals appropriately. The Plant Operations Aide may also be required to operate motor vehicles and assist with supply storage or other related duties as assigned. The position demands considerable physical exertion and the ability to work both indoors and outdoors under varying environmental conditions.
