The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is currently seeking a full-time Pilot to serve as the Pilot in Command for MedEvac 4, located in Pittsburgh, PA. As the Pilot in Command, you will play a critical role in the operational success of the STAT MedEvac system by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the assigned helicopter for all medical transport missions. Your primary responsibility will be the overall safety and airworthiness of the aircraft during every flight, adhering to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, UPMC policies, and STAT MedEvac operational procedures. This role demands exceptional judgment, technical flying skills, and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced, often unpredictable clinical environment. You will work as an integral member of the critical care transport team, collaborating closely with medical crew members and flight support personnel to provide seamless air transport services under high-stress conditions. Your duties will include preflight planning, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting thorough pre- and post-flight inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and actively participating in training and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various helicopter operations, including instrument flying, night flying (including unaided hours), and turbine engine management, with demonstrated experience handling emergency situations professionally and effectively. The position offers a schedule of 7 days on followed by 7 days off, providing a balanced work-life structure that supports personal well-being and professional readiness.
