The position of Patient Ambassador at UAMS is an essential role within the Office of Patient Services (OPS) team, specifically the Hospitality Patient Ambassadors department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Hospitality Services, the Patient Ambassador plays a critical role in delivering exceptional hospitality and customer service within the hospital setting. This is a regular full-time position requiring the incumbent to work rotating weekends, holidays, and potentially during inclement weather. The Patient Ambassador is responsible for staffing various hospitality service points throughout the hospital, including Information Desks, ICU Waiting Rooms, NICU, PRI Information Desks, PACU Department, Cart Driving duties, Discharge Lobby Desk, Outside Greeters, One Day Surgery Desk, Cancer Institute after-hours desk, and concierge services. This high-contact role demands excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-focused demeanor to greet patients, families, and visitors warmly, providing them with directions, information, and general assistance. The ambassador also collaborates with nursing staff to oversee visitation policies in intensive care units and ensures visitor waiting areas are maintained orderly. In addition to greeting and assisting visitors, the Patient Ambassador may assist patients with mobility by driving courtesy carts and helping patients in and out of vehicles. This position demands a balance of empathy, physical activity, and communication skills to offer the highest level of support and hospitality to patients and their families.
