The Pastry Cook role at Blackberry Mountain is a full-time position with an hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $21.00. This key culinary role contributes to the resort's excellence by ensuring the production of high-quality desserts served in the restaurants. The Pastry Cook is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bakeshop, managing inventory, and communicating the need for pastry supplies and equipment. This role requires attention to detail in stock rotation, proper wrapping and storage of pastry products, and the careful preparation of all dessert components.
The Pastry Cook plays a vital part in daily dessert production, including the finishing and sending of lunch and dinner desserts, cookie production and inventory management, and baking amenities for housekeeping. Additionally, the individual will assist with cake requests, special dietary dessert needs, and recipe or menu development. This position demands regular cooperation with the overall kitchen team and active participation in maintaining awareness of upcoming events. Physical demands include heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and frequent bending and reaching, along with the safe operation of company vehicles or golf carts.
Ideal candidates will have culinary education and a minimum of one year of pastry experience in a restaurant setting. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with guests, managers, and team members. The ability to convert recipes to different batch sizes, understand weights and measures, and compose effective recipes is also required.
