We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Pastry Chef to join our culinary team, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. This role focuses on the preparation and innovative development of a variety of pastries and desserts that meet the precise and elevated quality standards set by Jeff Ruby's Steakhouses. The Pastry Chef will ensure not only the aesthetic appeal of dessert presentations but also adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards. The Pastry Chef will work closely with their culinary team to prepare all pastry items following company-approved recipes and contribute creatively by developing new desserts and pastry specials that can enhance the menu offerings. The role involves daily preparation to keep dessert stations fully stocked and organized, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth line operations by supporting coworkers as needed. The ability to read, understand and execute recipes accurately is essential in this hands-on kitchen role.
Physical capabilities are also required, including the ability to work for extended periods on foot, handle kitchen equipment safely, lift moderate weights, and navigate the varying temperatures and noise levels typical to a busy restaurant kitchen. Candidates are expected to have a solid background in food preparation, ideally supported by at least one year of training at a culinary institute or equivalent restaurant experience. A high school diploma is required.

- At least a year’s training at a culinary institute or previous restaurant training and experience
- Ability to stand and walk for 6 to 8 hour shifts
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds and place items on high and low shelves in storerooms and freezers
- Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of heat and noise
