The Aviation Department at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) plays a critical role in maintaining this standard by overseeing Airside Operations. The department ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other governmental regulations, securing and managing CLT's FAA Airport Operating Certificate under Part 139 and adhering to the Airport Certification Manual approved by the FAA. The Airside Operations Agent is a pivotal role that involves skillful and responsible oversight of safety and security measures on the airport ramp, in vehicles, and terminal facilities. This position demands the operation and monitoring of communications equipment such as radios and telephones while effectively managing emergency and non-emergency information.
Airside Operations Agents primarily perform escorts within the Airport Operations Area (AOA), conduct rigorous inspections, and respond promptly to a variety of incidents. These professionals are required to assess situations swiftly, objectively, and within established guidelines, representing the airport with professionalism and a positive demeanor at all times. This job is integral to airport safety, security, and operational continuity, requiring training in federal programs and adherence to federal, state, and city regulations. The role also involves support for snow, wildlife, and construction-related duties as necessary, alongside participation in comprehensive initial and recurrent training related to Part 139 compliance.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $23.00 to $24.52 per hour, commensurate with experience. Work shifts cover 24/7 airport operations and include holidays, with potential overtime when necessary. The job entails both indoor and outdoor work environments, often in varying weather conditions. Candidates must be able to legally drive, quickly adapt to emergency situations, communicate effectively, and maintain safety standards at all times.                 - High school diploma or GED equivalent
 - one year of related work experience
 - valid driver’s license
 - must obtain non-movement area driving certification upon hire
 - ability to work assigned shifts including holidays and report during emergencies
 - must successfully pass security threat assessment and criminal history record check
 - ability to operate motor vehicle safely in various weather conditions
 - ability to perform physical activities such as walking up to one mile and lifting weights up to 25 lbs
 - must complete all required Part 139 training
 - ability to communicate clearly in oral and written forms
 - ability to adapt to changing priorities
 - ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
 - must be willing to work mandatory overtime as needed
