The Parking Attendant position at Seattle Center is an intermittent role that offers flexible work schedules aligned with various event timetables. Because Seattle Center hosts numerous high-profile events, including seasonal festivals like Bumbershoot, Folklife, and Bite of Seattle, the hours for this position vary significantly and can include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, public-facing environments and enjoy working with a diverse customer base. The hourly wage ranges from $25.98 to $30.40, starting at the entry rate with premium pay incentives based on hours worked, increasing the base pay by 5% to 25%.
In this role, Parking Attendants are responsible for providing exceptional customer service by offering information about parking, events, and facility rules, selling parking tickets, and managing cash transactions efficiently and accurately. They prepare bank deposit documents, proactively greet visitors warmly, enforce facility regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, and maintain cleanliness and safety by checking for vandalism and managing signage. Being outdoors for extended periods in varied weather conditions, standing for long durations, and handling physical demands such as lifting up to 40 pounds are important aspects of the job. Furthermore, strong communication skills and an approachable demeanor are essential for successfully interacting with patrons from all backgrounds.
This position requires candidates to have a flexible schedule with the ability to work at least 180 hours annually, including availability for key city events and holidays. Candidates must possess a valid Washington Driver’s License and maintain an excellent driving record, as the role involves operating an insured, privately owned vehicle during work hours. Applicants will undergo a background check and pre-employment physical examination to ensure compliance with City policies and safety standards. This intermittent position does not guarantee a minimum number of hours but offers opportunities to engage in meaningful work contributing to Seattle’s vibrant cultural and entertainment scene.
