The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment across assigned college buildings, which is essential to creating a conducive learning atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include routine floor care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning, as well as disinfecting lavatories, cleaning windows and walls, and managing refuse removal. The role also involves light maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs, setting up facilities for events, monitoring mechanical systems such as boilers and air conditioners, and assisting with campus building security. Because the college operates year-round and faces occasional emergency situations, custodians designated as essential staff may be required to respond during adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other campus emergencies. The successful candidate must demonstrate competency in operating various cleaning equipment, manual dexterity, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team. Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds is crucial. Applicants should be physically capable of performing tasks that include lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, and prolonged walking.
