The role of an Innovation/Utility Specialist at Rentokil blends the dynamic aspects of pest control, exclusion services, minor construction, and Thermal Acoustical Pest control (TAP) insulation installation. This position is essential in driving meaningful impact by enhancing the integrity and safety of the communities they serve. Specialists are responsible for conducting detailed inspections to identify pest activity, implementing pest control treatments across residential and commercial properties, installing and maintaining termite control systems, and delivering TAP insulation services to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Beyond direct pest management, the role integrates elements of minor construction and repair, supporting the maintenance and restoration of properties affected by pest damage and other environmental factors. Effective customer interaction is a key component, requiring the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, ensuring clients understand the services provided and the importance of pest control measures. Innovation/Utility Specialists also perform wildlife exclusion and removal, constructing exclusion traps and adhering strictly to safety protocols.
Safety is paramount in this role, as specialists often work in varying environments that include confined spaces such as basements, crawl spaces, and attics, as well as on rooftops where safety harnesses are needed. The work involves physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing on slippery or uneven surfaces, and operating company-provided vehicles and equipment. Specialists are trained to handle conditions involving mechanical parts, chemical substances, electrical currents, and potential exposure to fumes and dust.
