The position being offered is the role of an Events Services Assistant within the institution's Catering Department. This role is full-time, non-exempt, and classified under the bargaining unit with a work schedule of 40 hours per week. The compensation starts at an hourly rate of $18.58, with scheduled increments to $18.87 after six months and $19.44 after twelve months, reflecting the organization's commitment to rewarding experience and performance. As an Events Services Assistant, the successful candidate will report directly to the Banquet Manager and play a crucial part in the seamless execution of catered events and banquets. The role involves diverse responsibilities such as assisting in event operations, managing food and beverage service, coordinating logistics including equipment handling and deliveries, and maintaining inventory control. This position demands a high level of customer service excellence as the assistant will be interacting with attendees, addressing inquiries, coordinating student dinner services, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the event lifecycle.
Additional duties include cashiering tasks, overseeing setup and cleanup activities, maintaining room and equipment sanitation, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and managing vehicle maintenance and security related to event operations. The role requires a balanced mix of logistical coordination, frontline service, and operational oversight to support high-volume catering events, typically in a fast-paced and high-accountability environment.

- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to read write and converse fluently in English
- Three years of experience in food service operations including two years of experience in a high-volume catering operation
- Two years of experience as a retail clerk in a busy environment
- Knowledge of and ability to ring up sales quickly and accurately
- Ability to apply math skills to accurately reconcile cash and debit reports
- Must possess a valid California driver license with a clean record
- Ability to maintain College’s Designated Driver Status
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word Excel PowerPoint Google drives folders forms or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities
