The Brody Culinary Platform Attendant role is a full-time, support staff position within the Culinary Services Dining Operations team at MSU’s residential dining hall in Brody Hall. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of food service areas, particularly the salad bars, cold and hot food stations, and made-to-order serving stations. The attendant is responsible for organizing, preparing, and supplying various food items, maintaining quality, sanitation, and efficiency throughout the service period. Working closely with cooks and other kitchen staff, the attendant assists in combining ingredients, portioning meals, and serving fresh food to customers while adhering to strict food safety and handling procedures to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
As part of the Residential and Hospitality Services team, employees in this role contribute significantly to creating a welcoming and inclusive dining environment. They serve a diverse customer base and work within a diverse workforce, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. The position requires physical stamina due to occasional lifting requirements, and the ability to multitask efficiently during busy service periods is essential.
This position is designated as critical, meaning that attendants are expected to report to work despite university closures due to emergencies, such as snow or other unforeseen conditions, to support continuous dining operations for the MSU community. The schedule for this role includes working Tuesday through Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with Sundays and Mondays off.
