The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program is a vital part of supporting the well-being and quality of life for military personnel, their families, and the surrounding community. It includes community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, management of recreational green spaces, bowling, library services, Liberty programs, grab-n-go services, movie screenings, and outdoor recreation opportunities. The MWR Community Recreation program plays a crucial role in creating an engaging and supportive environment where individuals and groups of all ages and interests can enjoy meaningful and enjoyable leisure activities.
The role within the Community Recreation program is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring a dedicated individual capable of performing a broad range of duties to support various recreational activities and special events. This role involves direct interaction with the community, organizing and administering special events and entertainment activities, and providing valuable recreation information and resources. The ideal candidate will independently manage tasks, make informed decisions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. They will be adept at customer service, demonstrate knowledge of the goals and principles of leisure time activities, and understand the specific recreation needs related to the Navy MWR mission. The position demands proficiency in record keeping, data organization, report compilation, and research on recreation topics for customer dissemination. Additionally, familiarity with computer applications, office procedures, and print production is essential. A high school diploma or GED is preferred for this employment type, identified as 'OTHER'.
