The role of the Ramp Agent is essential in facilitating the seamless handling of customer aircraft on the ground. The Ramp Agent is primarily responsible for loading, unloading, servicing, guiding, and directing aircraft and their associated baggage, air cargo, and airmail. The position demands a strong focus on safety and efficiency as the agent safeguards customer possessions from weather risks, loss, theft, damage, or destruction. In addition to managing the transfer of passenger baggage, freight, and company materials, the Ramp Agent operates various motorized equipment such as pushback tugs, belt loaders, air start units, and lift trucks. This requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to follow precise operational protocols. The role also involves record-keeping duties to ensure accurate documentation of all baggage and cargo movements. Individuals in this position must maintain clear communication with Wing Walkers and other ground crew to coordinate aircraft pushback operations safely. Candidates will undergo essential training, including ramp safety and Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) training, to gain the necessary airport authority identification and security clearance. This job is well-suited for candidates who are physically capable, detail-oriented, and able to work in diverse and sometimes challenging weather conditions. - Must be a local (in-state) resident
- valid in-state driver's license
- ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- ability to pass up to a 10-year background check
- must be at least 18 years of age
- must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis
- must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis
- must be able to work in cramped or high places
- high school diploma or GED
