The role of Traffic Anchor at WTMJ is an exciting and pivotal position that plays a key part in the daily broadcast news cycle. This traffic-focused role requires using an array of tools and resources to monitor and report on road conditions and related community impacts throughout the morning newscast. The Traffic Anchor is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate, reliable, and engaging traffic reports across multiple platforms including live television, digital outlets, and social media. A successful candidate will exhibit strong broadcast and digital writing skills, the ability to maintain a smooth, conversational, yet authoritative delivery style, and must demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with newsroom staff to ensure information is both ethical and precise. This position demands flexibility, excellent organizational skills, and a knowledge of local, regional, and national news and social media dynamics. Additionally, the anchor is expected to represent WTMJ at community service events, engage actively with viewers via social media daily, and adhere to the high journalistic standards set by Scripps.
