The University of Miami seeks an experienced and dedicated Events Manager to join its Division of Development and Alumni Relations. This full-time staff position, classified under Pay Grade A10, offers a dynamic opportunity to be at the forefront of planning and executing high-profile events that showcase the university’s development efforts and community engagement. The Events Manager will work closely with the Executive Director of Events to manage and oversee various events including groundbreakings, dedications, forums, lectures, memorials, scholarship lunches, and other special occasions organized by the schools, colleges, units, president’s office, and student affairs. The role involves meticulous planning, budgeting, and coordination to ensure every event is executed flawlessly, reflects the university’s values, and supports its strategic objectives. The Events Manager will be responsible for managing timelines, creating detailed event checklists, organizing staffing and logistics, and negotiating with external vendors to secure optimal services and pricing. Additionally, the position requires maintaining and enhancing the invitation database and reports, ensuring all printed materials are prepared accurately and approved by the Executive Director of Strategic Events. Beyond the logistical aspects, the Events Manager will lead special committees tasked with event planning, setting clear goals and objectives, facilitating meetings, and driving these committees to successful outcomes. A critical aspect of the job is supervising event staff, providing thorough training, and briefing personnel to maintain high standards and smooth operations throughout each event. The successful candidate will have strong business and management acumen, extraordinary organizational skills, and the ability to motivate and develop team members effectively. This position requires a minimum of five years of relevant event management experience along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to manage department operations, establish goals aligned with strategic plans, and provide leadership to achieve results.
