This full-time position within the Department of Cultural and Community Services offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the city’s event planning and execution. The role focuses on administrative and supervisory work assisting in the development, planning, and execution of all city events. The position provides an essential function in creating an annual calendar of events, coordinating logistics, managing vendor and contractor relationships, securing sponsorships, and overseeing event budgets. The salary range for this role is $55,200.69 to $90,529.13 annually, reflecting the level of responsibility and expertise required to excel in this position.
The incumbent will assist in organizing community and cultural events by ensuring comprehensive planning and flawless execution. Responsibilities include assisting in preparing contracts, managing event logistics including labor, equipment, and facilities, promoting and marketing events, and fostering community and corporate partnerships for financial sponsorships. This role also emphasizes volunteer program management, including recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers to support event needs. The position requires coordination with multiple city departments and outside parties to ensure the success and smooth operation of events. It demands excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and creative environment. The role occasionally requires working nights, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedules, highlighting the need for flexibility and dedication.
The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of event planning, budget management, project management, and community engagement. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years' experience in special events planning or related field
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
- Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED certification required within three months of hire
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to obtain Crowd Management Certification within six months of hire if not currently certified
