The Safety Manager role at BAE Systems Platforms & Services is a critical leadership position responsible for the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive Safety, Health, and Environmental programs supporting all LMA activities in Singapore. The Safety Manager oversees safety measures related to shipyard, pier-side, and shipboard repair work, emphasizing risk minimization and fostering a culture of safety excellence. This position demands a strategic approach to safety management, including creating and maintaining robust safety management systems compliant with US Navy directives (NAVSEA and NAVFAC), OSHA standards, and Singaporean health and environmental regulations. The manager will conduct detailed risk assessments, hazard analyses, and environmental impact assessments for various maritime activities, including operations on U.S. Navy ships deployed in the 7th Fleet Area of Operations. The role requires frequent safety inspections and audits of worksites, materials, and equipment, along with active participation in US Navy safety audits. The Safety Manager leads incident investigations, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented to prevent future incidents. Additionally, they develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs covering essential topics such as confined space entry, fall protection, and lockout/tagout procedures. The role also involves maintaining meticulous safety-related records and serving as the primary liaison for safety matters with U.S. Navy personnel, contracting officers, and other stakeholders. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, underscoring the importance of security in this role. With a workload involving approximately 50 percent travel, primarily onsite at strategic locations, this full-time, first-shift position offers a competitive salary range between $99,410 and $168,997. Candidates are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, and possess a minimum of six years of experience managing safety and occupational health programs on U.S. military or DoD contracts. Preferred qualifications include certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or an equivalent credential, along with proven leadership skills and expertise in U.S. and Singaporean safety regulations.
