The department is widely recognized for its innovative campus dining, featuring five dining halls, more than 20 retail dining locations, an upscale restaurant, a hydroponic garden, central scratch bakery, and a full-service catering operation named Verde Catering. UNT Dining is renowned nationally for pioneering initiatives such as Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first fully vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas’s first university dining hall certified free from the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. The department has earned awards including the Loyal E. Horton Award and the Vegan Recipe Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services, and is ranked as the number two college food program in the nation by Delish.com. The Food Service Supervisor role is a leadership position reporting to UNT-Catering within UNT-Student Affairs. This role demands comprehensive knowledge of catering kitchen operations, client expectations, and university resources to guarantee the flawless execution of events. Responsibilities encompass supervising all aspects of floor operations, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and timely delivery of food according to established menus. The supervisor actively participates in specialty event stations and conducts pre-event meetings to prepare staff for setup, service, and breakdown. With a hands-on leadership style, the supervisor trains and motivates team members while upholding department standards in grooming, attendance, food safety, service, and sanitation. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent alongside two years of institutional or commercial food preparation experience, including supervisory experience. The position requires skills in following detailed instructions, managing personnel, applying mathematical calculations, knowledge of large-scale food preparation, food safety, menu planning, and training. Preference is given to candidates with catering kitchen experience, volume cooking proficiency, and an enthusiastic, growth-oriented attitude towards UNT Dining Services operations. This full-time role is located in Denton, Texas, with a competitive salary commensurate with experience and retirement benefits under the Teacher Retirement System (TRS).
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation including one year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
