The role of Material Handler/Sorter - DS3 at the Glen Burnie, Maryland headquarters central distribution warehouse is a full-time, non-exempt position designed for detail-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced warehouse setting. The person in this role will primarily work on the divert lane as a package sorter, playing a critical role in the order fulfillment process. This job demands a keen eye for detail to identify errors made by pickers before products are shipped to customers. Responsibilities include accurate product identification, inventory processing, movement, and control, as well as preparation for shipping and some receiving duties. Essential functions involve pulling totes off conveyors after they are sorted by an automated system and packing them into bins, ensuring the item and quantity are correct through the use of RF scanners, and repacking any incorrectly sorted totes. The role requires good spatial awareness for packing items neatly and safely, as well as the physical ability to lift heavy items, squat, bend, and reach.
Operators must be willing to cross-train for various warehouse positions and be capable of operating warehouse equipment such as cherry/order pickers, forklifts, and electric pallet jacks. This position demands almost constant standing or walking and requires flexibility to work holidays and weekends as needed. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is also a critical element of the role.
