The role of A.M. Material Handler is a critical position based at their Downers Grove location within the Receiving Department. This is a first shift position where the base rate per hour is $24. The working hours generally start as early as 8:00 AM until the job is completed, with overtime and weekend work as needed, especially during holiday production schedules. This position demands good attendance and punctuality due to the varying operational needs. The A.M. Material Handler plays an essential role in supporting daily production by supplying needed ingredients and packaging materials, unloading products and supplies, checking the quality of incoming materials, and ensuring effective stock rotation based on code dates. This position requires a thorough understanding of ingredient storage locations, knowledge of scaling and packaging schedules, and maintaining accurate Lot Code Traceability records. The role supports multiple packaging areas, works with heavy materials up to 250 pounds, and entails the use of equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts. The employee will also maintain 5S standards related to organization and cleanliness within storage areas and communicate effectively with Supervisors, Quality Assurance personnel, and other team members. Given the broad demands, the position also includes responsibilities such as assisting with receiving shipments, conducting cycle counts, collaborating with inventory coordinators to reconcile stock with SAP system records, and providing relief in shipping functions as needed. Safety and quality controls are paramount, with food safety awareness being a cornerstone of the role, requiring full adherence to HACCP, CTS, GMP, and JSA procedures. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong decision-making, and communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high compliance standards for all operations within the Receiving Department. Training is provided for advancement, and upon satisfactory performance, there is opportunity to progress to a Material Handler I level. The physical demands of this role are significant, necessitating the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and perform various physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and climbing. The work environment entails exposure to industrial noise, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, and the use of safety equipment is mandatory.
