Within this esteemed system, the UNT Dining Services division plays a pivotal role in enhancing campus life through exceptional dining experiences. As the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas, UNT Dining Services operates five dining halls, more than 20 retail locations, an upscale restaurant, a hydroponic garden, a central scratch bakery, and a full-service catering operation. Led by professionally trained chefs and hospitality experts, this department is a national leader in university dining innovation and has received numerous accolades including the Loyal E. Horton Award. Recognized for its commitment to sustainability and health, UNT Dining Services operates Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first all-vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas' only university dining hall certified free from the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. The department also manages Eagle Landing, a modern dining hall inspired by urban food halls featuring diverse restaurant concepts accessed by a single meal plan swipe.
The position of Maple Dining Associate at UNT is an hourly, non-student role based in Denton with a pay rate of $10.00 per hour. This position is classified as non-retirement eligible and involves varying hours. Working within the UNT-Dining-Residential department, the Maple Dining Associate contributes directly to the daily dining operations, supporting meal preparation, serving, and ensuring a welcoming and hygienic dining environment for students and residents. This is a security-sensitive position requiring professionalism and a commitment to upholding safety and sanitation standards.
As a Maple Dining Associate, you will be an integral member of a team dedicated to providing exceptional food service. Your duties will include assisting with the preparation of high-quality food items, supporting daily meal services, and handling essential tasks such as setting tables, packaging meals, and maintaining cleanliness standards within the dining area. Knowledge of proper use and care of kitchen equipment and utensils is required, along with an understanding of food safety hazards and related precautionary measures. Although previous dining or hospitality experience is appreciated, it is not mandatory; however, excellent communication skills and a compassionate, service-oriented attitude are essential to succeed in this role. You will play a vital part in ensuring that students and guests experience a pleasant and seamless dining environment.
The role also involves adhering to standardized processes aimed at minimizing turnaround time and ensuring consistent availability of clean and sanitized dishes. Physical requirements include effective communication to exchange information with colleagues and customers. There are no significant environmental hazards associated with the position.
