The Rockford IceHogs are a professional hockey team based in Rockford, Illinois, competing in the American Hockey League (AHL). Founded in 1999, they serve as the premier development affiliate for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). The IceHogs have established themselves as a cornerstone of the Rockford sports community, playing their home games at the newly renovated BMO Center and maintaining offices in downtown Rockford at 401 E State Street. As the longest-running professional sports team in the city, the IceHogs have cultivated a loyal and passionate local fan base, setting multiple attendance records and building a solid reputation for community engagement and exceptional fan experiences. The organization is deeply committed to supporting not only the growth and development of elite hockey talent but also fostering a strong, vibrant connection with the community through various outreach efforts and events.
The role of Manager, Ticket Sales is a crucial leadership position within the Rockford IceHogs' Revenue Department. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Revenue, this full-time exempt position plays an essential role in driving ticket sales and revenue generation. With a structured work schedule from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (with seasonal variations aligned with the IceHogs' game schedule), the position is based primarily in-office at the Rockford location. The salary range for this role is budgeted at $60,000 annually, with additional incentives tied to individual and team performance.
As the Manager, Ticket Sales, the successful candidate will oversee a team of six direct reports—the Ticket Sales Account Executives—responsible for a broad portfolio including season ticket sales, group tickets, premium seating, and suite sales. This position demands a leader adept at strategic planning, team development, and tactical execution to meet and exceed annual revenue goals. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the manager will work closely not only within the IceHogs organization across Ticket Operations, Ticket Service and Retention, Corporate Partnerships, Marketing, and Game Operations departments, but also with the Chicago Blackhawks Ticket Sales team. This collaboration ensures alignment with broader organizational goals and supports maximizing sales and customer engagement across both franchises.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing business development and growth strategies that encompass forecasting, budgeting, event selling, communications, and customer relationship management. The manager will lead, motivate, recruit, train, and cultivate a high-performing sales team culture focused on collaboration and growth. Utilizing fan and customer data effectively to inform sales strategies, creating compelling sales campaigns, and fostering positive selling environments are critical to the role. Exceptional customer service and relationship-building with fans, customers, colleagues, and community partners are emphasized to maintain and expand the IceHogs' loyal fan base.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong sales and leadership background, particularly with professional selling experience and prior managerial roles. Proficiency with CRM and ticketing or inventory management software, such as Ticketmaster Archtics and Salesforce, is highly preferred. Excellent communication skills, personal motivation, persistence, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects while working within a team-driven culture are essential. The role also requires flexibility in working hours, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays aligned with the IceHogs' event schedule.
The Rockford IceHogs uphold a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourage applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other protected classification. The organization is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
