World Wide Wings is a prominent restaurant franchise specializing in flavorful wings and exceptional dining experiences. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to quality service, the company operates across multiple locations, delivering a consistent and enjoyable experience to guests. As a growing and dynamic hospitality business, World Wide Wings prides itself on creating a fun and engaging environment for both guests and team members, emphasizing teamwork, development, and guest satisfaction as cornerstones of its operational philosophy.
The role of the Department Manager at World Wide Wings is a critical leadership position overseeing a specific department within the restaurant—whether that be the Heart of House (HOH), Bar, or Hospitality Department. Department Managers share overarching management responsibilities with other managerial staff and ensure the smooth, safe, and profitable operation of their assigned department. This role demands a hands-on approach, balancing team member development, operational excellence, and financial oversight. With a wage range of $18.00 to $27.40 per hour, Department Managers are essential to driving the success of each restaurant location through effective team leadership, quality control, and guest experience management.
The Department Manager position encompasses several specialized roles depending on the area of focus. The Heart of House Department Manager primarily manages food and product matters, staff planning, and team member growth within the back-of-house environment. They ensure food quality, adherence to recipes, proper inventory management, and safe food handling protocols. The Bar Department Manager controls the bar operations including adult beverage management, inventory control, vendor relations, and Responsible Alcohol Service compliance. Additionally, they focus on motivating and developing bartenders and bar servers. The Hospitality Manager leads the front-of-house dining room service, managing the guest service experience and hospitality team members.
Managers are responsible for rigorous staffing duties such as recruiting, hiring, training, and succession planning to maintain optimal team levels. They are also tasked with implementing ongoing development plans and performance evaluations to foster growth and motivation. Financial responsibilities are pivotal; Department Managers monitor budgets, labor costs, and product costs, using performance measurement tools like Guest Experience Management (GEM), Quality Service Cleanliness audits (QSCs), and Profit and Loss statements (P&L) to make data-driven decisions.
Safety is a consistent priority across all roles, including compliance with Board of Health standards, food safety regulations, and alcohol service laws. Managers also utilize restaurant support teams and subject matter experts when necessary to address issues and improve operational outcomes. Beyond standard operational tasks, these managers collaborate with the General Manager and other department leaders to build promotions, incentive programs, and contests aimed at enhancing both team morale and guest engagement.
The physical demands of the role require medium strength capabilities, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, stand and walk for long periods, and perform various manual tasks within a fast-paced restaurant environment. Managers must be flexible, available for irregular hours including nights and weekends, and capable of working in diverse environments ranging from climate-controlled kitchens to outdoor inspection areas.
Overall, the Department Manager position at World Wide Wings offers an exciting opportunity for motivated, organized individuals passionate about hospitality and leadership. Candidates will gain valuable experience in managing teams, enhancing guest satisfaction, and driving restaurant profitability while working in a well-established and supportive franchise environment.
