The role of Import Agent at Cavalier Logistics is a full-time position designed for individuals proficient in managing the importation procedures from the point of origin to final destination within the United States. This role primarily involves processing documentation required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for entry of goods, ensuring compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire import cycle including the preparation and submission of import documents, coordination with overseas factories and agents, and vigilant tracking of shipments. A key responsibility within this role is to provide thorough and clear communication to clients and partners throughout the import process, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
This position requires someone with strong industry experience in freight forwarding, particularly in LCL/FCL ocean import operations, refrigerated container handling, and air import procedures. The Import Agent is expected to handle customs clearance processes, work closely with customs brokers, and maintain current customs compliance documentation. The ability to manage customs entry writing and to audit brokerage files is also critical. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure. Proficiency in MS Office applications and a solid understanding of regulatory laws, INCO terms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and customs regulations are also required.
