Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group originated from a small restaurant in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood and has grown into an established restaurant group operating over 20 locations throughout the Southeast under two brands, Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine. These restaurants are known for bringing the spirit and soul of New Orleans to the brunch experience, specializing in breakfast and lunch with a vibrant atmosphere influenced by the rich culture and culinary traditions of New Orleans. Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group emphasizes quality, consistency, and hospitality, creating not only food but memorable dining experiences rooted in Southern charm and hospitality. The group is expanding, continually opening new locations, which offers employees growth opportunities within a reputable and rapidly expanding company. This position is for a kitchen role with a focus on daytime shifts, appealing to workers who want to make good money and still be home in time for dinner, as the restaurants only serve breakfast and lunch. This provides a healthy work-life balance which is rare in the food service industry.
The role itself is integral to the kitchen operations and focuses on the preparation and portioning of hot food products. The employee will be expected to prepare and cook menu items to Ruby Slipper’s exacting standards, ensuring that every dish served meets the high quality and consistency the brand is known for. Responsibilities include the preparation and garnishing of dishes, plating and ensuring that each item meets presentation standards before it leaves the kitchen. The role requires following standardized recipes and portion sizes, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the work area, and working closely with management and other kitchen and front-of-house team members. A minimum of one year of kitchen experience is preferred, reflecting the need for someone who understands kitchen flow and how to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
The ideal Ruby Krewe member is a team player who values quality food and hospitality. The group encourages a belief that butter and bacon improve everything, highlighting the richness and indulgence of their menu offerings. Safety and communication are paramount, as workers must be able to clearly communicate with other team members to ensure smooth service and operational excellence. The physical nature of the work means the employee must be comfortable standing for long periods of time, be able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift items up to 50 pounds. These physical requirements reflect the demanding environment of a professional kitchen where efficiency and care coexist. Employees are also expected to comply with all company policies, kitchen rules, and safety regulations consistently.
Joining Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive team culture known as the Ruby Krewe. As part of the group, employees benefit from a supportive, family-like atmosphere that strives to lift each team member through training, development, and opportunities for growth. Employees receive group medical and dental benefits, paid time off, and can enjoy family meals and dining discounts. The company also values employee growth and offers opportunities for pay increases and career advancement, making it an appealing place for dedicated kitchen professionals looking for a stable yet vibrant workplace.
