The role of a Line Cook at SSP America involves preparing, garnishing, and presenting food items according to standardized recipes while practicing strict portion control to ensure consistency and quality. The cook is responsible for maintaining proper set-up and organization of the kitchen or station daily, including requisitioning and stocking food, paper products, and condiments as required. Handling and storing products correctly, including proper rotation of inventory to maintain freshness, is a critical part of the job. Line Cooks also have the duty of maintaining and regularly cleaning machinery and equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with health standards. Managing the stock, cutting, and storage of perishables every day is needed to sustain product quality, alongside completing opening, ongoing, and closing checklists to support smooth kitchen operations. Quality control is paramount, with the Line Cook taking responsibility for the quality of all served products. The role additionally involves performing general and specific cleaning duties using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisors. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the kitchen and operational needs. The working environment requires stamina to stand and work in confined spaces for extended hours. Candidates are expected to be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of one year of previous experience working as a Line Cook. A high school diploma is preferred, and good verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for effective interaction with guests and team members. Basic mathematical skills are required to ensure accurate portioning and inventory management. Brand certification, if required, must be obtained by the employee.
