The role of the Paramedic at IU Health LifeLine is a full-time position involving three 12-hour shifts, emphasizing the care, transport, and treatment of patients of all ages, including neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult, and elderly populations. Paramedics play a crucial role in relaying and receiving critical patient information and conditions, ensuring seamless communication with healthcare facilities and other emergency personnel. This position requires strict adherence to state regulations, departmental policies, hospital protocols, and safety practices, all within the defined scope of practice of a Paramedic licensed in Indiana. Beyond providing emergency medical care, this role includes responsibilities such as driving ambulances, transporting patients, obtaining consents and authorizations from patients or legal guardians, recording ambulance run times, and processing billing and daily reports. Paramedics may also be required to provide care aboard aircraft, adding a unique dimension to the emergency medical services provided by IU Health LifeLine.
Candidates for this role must possess an Indiana Paramedic license and have a minimum of three years of Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic experience. The position also mandates the acquisition of several additional certifications within specified timeframes, including Certified Flight Paramedic advanced certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma certification such as ITLS or PHTLS, and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC). Furthermore, candidates must be capable of making independent, clinically sound, and operationally competent decisions in high-pressure environments. A valid Indiana driver’s license with no more than six accrued points is required, and the role may involve a Motor Vehicle Record check as a condition of employment.  - pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or its equivalency to be obtained within initial probationary period
 - neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) or its equivalency to be obtained within initial probationary period
 - trauma certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire including ITLS or PHTLS
 - emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC) or its equivalency must be obtained within initial probationary period
 - NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 to be obtained with initial probationary period
 - valid driver's license in the state of indiana with no more than 6 accrued points
 - minimum of 3 years ALS paramedic experience
