Cavalier Logistics is currently seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to join their Carson, CA office, located near Los Angeles. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the import department, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Other Government Agencies (OGA) regulations, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will handle various responsibilities such as compliance reviews, data entry for customs transmissions using the ABI system, maintaining up-to-date customs entry documentation, coordinating releases from government agencies, organizing delivery and billing after customs clearance, and liaising with overseas agents to determine rates and routing. This position demands a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced logistics environment. The Licensed Customs Broker will work closely with customers, overseas agents, service providers, and internal teams to maintain communication and ensure smooth operations. They will be responsible for educating customers on import requirements, filing customs entries accurately and timely, handling Importer Security Filing (ISF), classifying goods, determining duties and fees, managing customs exams, handling delivery orders, and coordinating air and ocean operations. The role also includes preparing and reviewing reports, managing customer records and documentation, resolving issues, and supporting team members in understanding customs regulations and procedures. Candidates with a minimum of five years of import experience and at least three years as a licensed customs broker are preferred. Knowledge of federal import trade regulations, enforcement, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), duty drawback filing, and OGA regulations such as FDA, FCC, USDA, and others is essential. Familiarity with CargoWise software and experience in a 3PL environment are also required. The position emphasizes customer relationship management, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing as a team player.
