This position is for a Lead Cook at the University of Texas at Austin, under Sodexo's food service management. This is a full-time role with varying shifts, open availability preferred, and a pay range of $7.25 to $21.00 per hour. As a Lead Cook, you will be a crucial team player responsible for preparing and creating nutritious meals while delivering exceptional customer service. Your role embodies a commitment to food quality, presentation, and waste reduction. You will prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items suitable for different meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Skills in reading and following recipes accurately are essential, along with the ability to operate grill stations and support daily kitchen operations. The Lead Cook also assists management in overseeing key functions and team members, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 3 to 4 years of relevant cooking or kitchen experience preferred
• Ability to work varying shifts including days and hours with open availability preferred
• Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
