The role of Medical Receptionist at the Lions Eye Center is a key position within the administrative team, functioning as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This role is essential in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for all who enter the facility. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments accurately, and updating patient demographic information to maintain up-to-date records. Critical to the smooth operation of the eye center, this position involves coordinating schedules across multiple divisions, maintaining bump lists for appointments, and facilitating communication between medical staff, including paging doctors in hospital consults when necessary. The receptionist also handles requests for medical records in compliance with privacy regulations.
This full-time first shift position requires someone with excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency in using specialized practice management systems such as Centricity. The Medical Receptionist must be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. Responsibilities include greeting patients warmly, ensuring their data is registered correctly in the system, managing paper and electronic filing systems for medical records, and making appointment reminder calls to reduce no-shows. The receptionist also plays a vital role in maintaining office supplies and assisting in staff and educational meetings, demonstrating a commitment to both operational excellence and patient care.
