The General Manager role at this expanding Golden Chick location is a key leadership position within the restaurant operations department. Reporting directly to the Restaurant Supervisor, this exempt role oversees comprehensive management of both staff and operational functions. The General Manager is responsible for leading a team consisting of 1-2 subordinate supervisors who manage a total of 15-30 employees, as well as directly supervising these employees. This multifaceted role encompasses hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions, all while ensuring adherence to company policies and maintaining a productive, positive workplace culture. The General Manager is instrumental in driving restaurant success through strong leadership, operational oversight, and financial management.
In addition to people management, the role involves monitoring inventory and supply levels, coordinating with vendors, managing financial transactions, budgeting, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping. Food safety and quality compliance are critical responsibilities, requiring the General Manager to inspect facilities, ensure food handler certifications are current, and foster a safe working environment that aligns with health regulations. The General Manager also plays an active role in food preparation and customer service, troubleshooting equipment issues, and participating in operational meetings to improve restaurant performance and strategize for future growth.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be an Assistant Manager of a Golden Chick restaurant for a minimum of six months or manager of a food operation other than Golden Chick for two years
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- State Food Handler certification
- Must be willing to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays
