The role offered at the Wilmington-Concord, DE store is that of an Event Coordinator and Customer Service Associate, a dynamic position central to providing an engaging, stress-free, and fun experience for Michaels' customers. This role specifically focuses on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, ranging from children’s birthday parties to diverse craft classes and special events, all designed to inspire creativity and enjoyment among guests. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for communicating with clients, adjusting event plans to meet client needs, performing demonstrations and instructional tasks during events, and ensuring each event upholds Michaels’ standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.
Beyond event coordination, the position involves delivering exceptional customer service throughout the store — helping patrons find the supplies they need, assisting with purchase transactions to ensure a friendly and efficient checkout, and educating customers about the company’s rewards and credit card programs as well as promoting participation in customer satisfaction surveys. Additionally, operational duties including merchandise stocking, truck unloading, store recovery, and upkeep support the smooth daily functioning of the store.
This role requires a highly energetic and enthusiastic individual who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, has experience working with children and hosting children’s events, and can handle the physical demands of a busy retail environment such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, using ladders, and maintaining store cleanliness.
