Delaware Park is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Event Manager to join its dynamic team. This full-time role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of managing a variety of events, including corporate functions, weddings, private parties, trade shows, special events, and conventions. The Event Manager will act as a key player in orchestrating the entire lifecycle of an event from inception to completion. This includes collaborating with clients to understand their event needs, coordinating with internal departments such as food and beverage, marketing, security, and housekeeping, and ensuring flawless execution on the day of the event. The Event Manager will also be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships and exploring new business opportunities to maximize the utilization of available event spaces at Delaware Park. A pivotal aspect of the role involves fiscal responsibility. The Event Manager must manage labor, supply, and rental costs effectively to exceed quarterly sales goals compared to previous years. This includes the development of marketing plans, promotional packages, and innovative menu options to elevate the venue's competitive edge. Leadership skills are highly valued as the Event Manager will handle interviewing, hiring, training, and sometimes disciplining staff while maintaining confidentiality and fostering a positive workplace environment. The position demands excellent communication skills, superior organizational abilities, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Moreover, the Event Manager will be hands-on during event setups and breakdowns, overseeing front-of-house service elements such as skirting, table tops, beverage service, and customer satisfaction checks. Proficiency in money handling and point-of-sale systems such as MICROS POS is essential for closing out events accurately. The role also demands strong technological aptitude, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Cater Ease, and C-Vent software. Candidates must be physically capable of standing for full shifts, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working according to a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
