The Event Coordinator role at the Bloomington, IN Michaels store involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, to create memorable, fun, and engaging experiences for customers of all ages. This part-time or full-time position focuses on delivering excellent customer service, ensuring fast and friendly checkout experiences, and maintaining operational standards. The coordinator will act as an ambassador of the Michaels brand by creating an inviting atmosphere where creativity thrives. Key responsibilities include managing multiple events simultaneously, engaging participants with craft demonstrations, face painting, and guiding party activities, as well as facilitating add-ons like balloons and goody bags to meet company standards. The role requires effective communication with clients and team members, overseeing event setup and breakdown, and maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the store environment. Administrative duties such as managing emails, phone communications, and paperwork are also integral to the position. Customer experience is paramount; therefore, the role includes assisting customers in locating products, educating them about Michaels' Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and helping them with seamless checkout processes. The coordinator will also support omni-channel services, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), participate in unloading deliveries, restocking merchandise, adhering to standard operating procedures, and championing shrink and safety programs. Candidates must exhibit an energetic, enthusiastic personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills and must be comfortable interacting with guests of all ages. Experience working with children and children’s events is essential, alongside retail or customer service experience. Physical requirements include standing for long periods, bending, lifting heavy boxes, and safely accessing high shelves using ladders. The role operates within a public retail setting, with varied work hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings, in a climate-controlled store environment.
