The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is currently seeking an Assistant Cook to join their team at the YMCA Deans Bridge Road Early Learning Center. Under the supervision of the Lead Cook, the Assistant Cook plays a vital role in supporting meal preparation and service as part of the food service program. This role ensures compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and USDA guidelines. The Assistant Cook’s responsibilities include assisting with purchasing food orders, receiving and properly storing food, maintaining food inventories, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. The role also aids in serving meals attractively and according to schedule, following food safety protocols such as wearing mandated attire and handling food safely. This position is integral to delivering nutritious meals to young children and supporting the overall mission of fostering a safe and healthy learning environment. This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year of experience in meal preparation along with ServSafe Certification. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check as per company policy.
