This Janitor position is located at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and offers an hourly wage of $17.75. The role is part of the AbilityOne program which seeks to provide opportunities for candidates with disabilities who meet program eligibility criteria. The Janitor will play a crucial role in maintaining clean, orderly, and safe environments across assigned spaces within the facility. Duties are designed to ensure optimal cleanliness and functionality of the workplace, which includes comprehensive floor care like sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing. The position also involves dusting equipment, furniture, and fixtures, maintaining restrooms, and handling trash and refuse removal. The ideal candidate will perform minor maintenance services and assist in the provision of supplies, adhering to Didlake’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee quality and consistency in every task. This role requires attention to detail, responsibility, and a strong sense of teamwork. Key responsibilities include cleaning washrooms, polishing metal trim, vacuuming carpets and upholstery, washing walls and windows, and ensuring all waste and refuse are properly disposed of. The Janitor is also expected to follow safety protocols meticulously, report any maintenance issues promptly, and participate in all mandated training sessions provided by Didlake.
