Jacobs Entertainment is currently seeking a Line Cook for the All-New J Resort at J Paul’s Italian Steakhouse. The J Resort is an upscale full-service hotel-casino located in Reno, boasting over 500 elegantly appointed guest rooms and a wide variety of gaming options including slots and table games. It offers a unique blend of original art, live music, bold culinary flavors, luxurious accommodations, and exhilarating casino action. As part of the team at this premier new resort, you will play a vital role in bringing the culinary vision of J Paul’s Italian Steakhouse to life.
The position of Line Cook at J Paul’s Italian Steakhouse requires a dedicated and skilled culinary professional who is passionate about preparing high-quality dishes with precision and consistency. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing, cooking, plating, and garnishing menu items such as steaks, chops, seafood, and sides exactly according to established recipes and standards. As a key member of the kitchen brigade, you will support overall kitchen operations by maintaining clean, organized, and sanitary workstations, meticulously handling all ingredients, and adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
The role demands exceptional multitasking skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. You will work closely with the Sous Chef, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams to ensure timely delivery of orders while minimizing waste and optimizing operational efficiency. Expertise in cooking methods including grilling, sautéing, searing, and frying is essential, as well as superb knife handling and a keen eye for detail. - High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of one year experience in food preparation and cooking
- Proficiency in grilling, searing, frying, and sautéing
- Experience in a la carte cooking and grill techniques
- Exceptional knife skills and safety
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and food handling
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to read recipes, food tickets, and kitchen monitors
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Good decision making skills
- Current Food Handler’s Card valid in Nevada
- Identification establishing identity
- Identification establishing right to work in the United States
