The role of Instructor / Developmental Test Pilot (DTP) at CACI is a vital position within the aviation sector, specifically focusing on rotary wing aircraft used by military special operations forces. This full-time, regular employee position requires a Secret security clearance and entails traveling up to 50 percent within the continental United States. As a Developmental Test Pilot, you will play a critical role in supporting the MH-47 Active Parallel Actuator Subsystem (APAS) and guiding the operational force through curriculum development and instruction. The position requires extensive collaboration with program offices, engineers, and developers to ensure system performance aligns with both specifications and user requirements. You will be responsible for planning and executing detailed test plans and conducting developmental test flights on newly modified or upgraded helicopters to evaluate performance, operational suitability, and safety. A significant aspect of this role includes performing maintenance test flights (MTFs) on primary model aircraft following maintenance, modification, or overhaul. Your expertise will support compliance with all relevant federal and military flight regulations, including DCMA INST 8210.1D, AR 95-1, USASOC Sup 1 to AR 95-1, ARSOA 3-04.11, and the 160th RTSOP. An essential part of your instructional duties will involve training commissioned officers, warrant officers, government personnel, partner nation aviators, and contractors in night vision goggle (NVG) helicopter operations. The training curriculum ensures that trainees are proficient in basic mission skills to operate at terrain flight altitudes under varied environmental conditions. You will also be responsible for qualifying aviators as Basic Mission Qualified (BMQ) Pilots, Instructor Pilots, or Maintenance Test Pilots within MH-47G rotary wing airframes. Additionally, your role includes performing crew duties during various training and demonstration flights, assisting with training and aircraft scheduling, and representing the Special Operations Aviation (SOA) user community at industry conferences and events.
