This role of Deli/Okazuya Clerk is a vital position within the Okazuya department, reporting directly to the Okazuya Manager. The starting rate of pay is $15.75 per hour, and it involves assisting the cook in preparing various food items such as bentos, Japanese foods, roast chicken, fish, vegetables for salads, meats and cheeses for sandwiches, and even slicing cakes. In addition to food preparation, this role demands exemplary customer service skills by greeting customers promptly, tracking inventory, ordering supplies as needed, maintaining food quality and safety standards like hourly temperature checks, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation and tools.
The Deli/Okazuya Clerk performs several physically demanding tasks, requiring standing for long periods, frequent walking, lifting up to 60 pounds, and pushing or pulling heavy loads up to 1000 pounds. The role demands good communication skills, the ability to follow directions independently, and the capability to operate various kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, fryers, slicers, and perform manual cutting techniques like slicing, dicing, and mincing.
