The Housekeeping Worker position at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, part of RWJBarnabas Health, plays a vital role within the Environmental Services Department. This hourly evening shift role is compensated at a rate of $19.98 per hour and is crucial to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and supplying patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary and other designated areas in strict adherence to established protocols and Medical Center objectives. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to respond promptly to emergency spills and sanitation needs, ensuring all areas meet high standards of hygiene and readiness. In this role, the Housekeeping Worker carries out a variety of duties including arranging furniture for meetings and community events, dust mopping and wet mopping corridors, stairwells and common areas, as well as carpet shampooing and buffing. The worker manages waste collection and disposal, including regulated medical waste, and is responsible for maintaining equipment and reporting repairs promptly. They also perform patient discharge cleaning following a strict 7-step procedure and ensure that every patient room is ‘Patient Ready’ at all times, complete with required tent cards, toilet seat bands, and privacy curtains. This position demands reliability, a proactive attitude, and the capability to work independently while supporting the broader goals of the Environmental Services team. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
