This employment opportunity is for a federal housekeeping position at Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge properties, where the incumbent will provide essential hospitality services to military members and their families. The role involves performing a full range of housekeeping duties, including cleaning guest rooms, public common areas, storage and laundry rooms, as well as exterior spaces. Employees will utilize a variety of cleaning tools and equipment, from vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaners to polishing machines, to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position requires attention to detail for tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, washing, moving furniture, and removing debris. Additional responsibilities include laundry operations, sanitizing bathroom and kitchen areas, and ensuring rooms are properly stocked with amenities. Housekeepers are expected to observe strict protocols for safety, security, and guest privacy while maintaining outstanding guest relations throughout their shifts. The role also encompasses minor maintenance duties, such as changing light bulbs, performing equipment upkeep, and reporting any necessary repairs to supervisors. Employees will play a key role in managing keys for guest rooms and other areas, as well as handling lost and found articles within the lodging properties. On occasion, housekeepers may assist with receiving and stocking supplies, unloading and loading trucks, and using hand tools safely and effectively. There may be a need to travel between lodging facilities to meet the demands of the business, which can include the requirement to hold a valid driver’s license. Certification in housekeeping and food handling are mandates, with a timeframe for obtaining the necessary qualifications within six months of hire. Ideal candidates are physically capable of performing moderate physical efforts such as moving furniture and operating cleaning machines. While no prior experience is required, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The position may be assigned across multiple locations, initially based at the Main Base/Annex of NGIS Point Loma.
